A Fanconi Anemia and Chromosome Instability Center has been established at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital in Boston. The center is directed by Dr. Alan D'Andrea, M.D., The Fuller-American Cancer Society Professor. This Center offers a wide range of services including:
- A basic research program in the molecular and cellular biology of Fanconi Anemia, conducted in the laboratory of Dr. D'Andrea.
- The creation of a Fanconi Anemia patient cell repository, including lymphoblastoid cell lines, skin fibroblast cell lines, and tumor cell lines from patients and family members. This repository has been assembled in collaboration with Dr. Markus Grompe and the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU).
- A Registry of FA patients from across the United States and Canada, including clinical information and family history.
- A Cytogenetic Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (HIM Building, Room 208) directed by Lisa Moreau for diagnosis, DEB testing, and complementation group analysis.
- A diagnostic and evaluation center for new and known patients with Fanconi Anemia. This program provides both consultative services and comprehensive care for patients with FA. Appointments in the Bone Marrow Failure Clinic can be made by calling 617.355.8246.
- The development of a gene therapy protocol for treatment of selected patients with FA.
